Guides (SMP)
From SpecialAttack World Of Minecraft
There are many tips and tricks in SMP that a player can use to more efficently produce or construct various blocks and advantages. These are some of the more prominant tips and guides to utilise them.

Making a Lava/Water spring
The infinite lava glitch which grants an artificial spring is now fixed and therefore, a lava spring is not possible.
Water is also highly bugged at this state of gameplay, and infinite springs randomly break and fix dependent on lag.
Making a Cobblestone Factory
Cobblestone is formed when lava hits water in any combination (excluding flowing water + lava source). There are various methods for creating a cobblestone factory, however almost all the methods involve the mined cobblestone falling into a harvester. What this involves is a small drop into either a chamber or a water stream for later collection. This is used in order to avoid the lava destroying the product.Single Product Cell (Semi-Automatic)
A simple single cell cobblestone factory involves the restricted flow of lava and water meeting in the middle. Basically, a lava and a water source are placed diagonally from each other in a box that only lets them flow into each other. When the cobblestone is mined, it will fall into a harvester and be momentarily recreated when the lava and the water flow. With a hard material for the case of the cell, the mouse can be simply held down in order to automatically mine the cobblestone upon formation without the cell being cracked. This allows a player to use an autoclicker or tape their mouse button down in order to consistently mine without being present.
Row Cell (Manual)
Another alternative cell involves a wide flow of either fluid meeting to make a chain of cobblestone. In this model, a flow of X blocks wide can be made of lava and of water on either side of a walled cell and on the final block the water will travel before disappearing, the lava will meet it. This distance is to ensure flooding doesn't occur. The row is then mined and falls into the harvester. With this version of the factory cell, the player must be present at all times, however it is more efficient than the single product cell as cobblestone will be available at all times for mining.
Making a Obsidian Farm
The key to Obsidian Farming is a lava spring and a water flow and a lot of patience.
Obsidian forms when a water flow hits a still lava block. If the order is reversed, cobblestone will form. The most effective way of doing this over large areas is using a grid-like formation with 1 lava block per square and a switchable water source above the lava (made possible by Runecraft).
However there is a more effective method, with more obsidian harvested than lava put into the forge. The SpAradise Obsidian Forge uses this method when 16 lava buckets are used to create 20 obsidian blocks, and for more information see the forge in progress.
After the obsidian itself forms, it will take 15 seconds per block and a diamond pickaxe to harvest. Because of this, many players use the Power Pick spell to harvest more than one obsidian block at a time.
Obsidian is unaffected by TNT in SMP and the strongest usable block available to regular players (with Adminium being the strongest available to admins). The block is also incredibly rare to be found naturally formed. Therefore it is a block of high value and very useful to produce. With the infinite lava glitch fixed, it is highly likely the value of these blocks will rise.
Making a Cactus production plant
Cacti are useful plants for traps and mob farms. In order to produce these, a method called Cactus Suffocation is put to effect.Cactus Suffocation involves limiting the growth of a cactus so that when it does attempt to grown it gets immediately destroyed. As cactus grows on sand only, a sand block must be in the cell. At the base of the cactus the area must be clear. The block directly above the cactus must also be clear, as if it were going to grow into it; however the key of the cactus cell is to suffocate that block. This is done by placing two solid blocks as shown in the diagram to the right. When the cactus grows into this block it will be immediately destroyed.
The cactus block will then most likely fall into a harvester. The harvester is similar to that of the Cobblestone Factory, and in the most common cases is an aquaduct. These cells can be layered on top of each other and a full water flow can be used to bring the cactus to a harvesting chamber at the bottom. This particular method is used in the SpAradise City Cactus Factory, where many cells work at the same time to produce many cactus blocks.
